ASC Membership Information
How do I join? Complete the ASC Application for Membership and return it to the address listed at the top of the form, or bring it to a club meeting. Feel free to address any questions to the club Secretary.
Is this range currently open for club use? The pistol/rifle and skeet ranges are operational and in use by club members.
How much does it cost to join? Range dues are $75.00 per year. There is a one-time initiation fee of $50. Skeet targets are $3.00 per round of 25. Immediate family members (spouse and minor children) are welcome any time you visit the range. You may bring other guests, although no single guest may accompany you more than twice per year. You are also required to be a member of the National Rifle Association ($25/year).
What are the membership requirements? You must be able to legally own a firearm in the State of Virginia, as proven by a valid Concealed Handgun Permit, a receipt for a recent firearms purchase, a current Federal Firearms License, or law enforcement credentials (if none of these options are convenient for you, we can also — with your cooperation — conduct a Criminal History Records Check). Additionally, you must commit to contribute eight hours of public service to the club per year. Public service includes assisting with ASC-sponsored shooting events, volunteering with the ASC youth program, serving on a Friends of NRA committee, working the club's table at local gunshows, performing range improvement or maintenance, and other activities as may be approved by the Board of Directors. Members who are not able to meet these public service requirements may instead contribute to the club at the rate of $5 per hour of public service not served.
How do I get to the range? See this map and directions.
When can I see the facility? Prospective members may attend our monthly Board of Directors meeting. See the club calendar for dates and e-mail the Secretary to let us know you will be visiting. Guests and visitors are also welcome at all of the scheduled matches listed on the club calendar.
Can I shoot a match at the range without joining? Club matches are open to the public. Non-members pay a small surcharge over club members.
Can I put on a match using the Range? Club members may propose matches to the Board of Directors. All matches shot on the range will require a club member to act as sponsor.
Is the range always open? Club members are given the combination to the range's gate lock, and may generally use the range at any time during daylight hours. We do share the range with the 4-H Center, and the range may be reserved for their exclusive use from time to time. This typically happens during weekday mornings in the Summer months, and infrequently on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the year. Range closings are posted well in advance on the club calendar.
Are there any other benefits to being a member? Yes! Among other things, the Airfield Shooting Club is affiliated with the CMP. This allows our members to purchase surplus rifles and ammunition through the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
